Commissioning Lacquer Art

A pair of mother-of-pearl inlaid lacquer compound cabinets commissioned by a private client. Images feature samples of shell inlay to show the possibilities that lacquer art can offer.

The texture and feel of lacquer objects while soft to the touch, is very hard-wearing, and although often delicate looking are not at all fragile. It is a chance to create a memorable spatial encounter with the art of lacquer. The well-crafted details with unusual material combinations offer an element of surprise in the different space.
